In today’s post I will show you the easy way to restore your glass cookware with just a few simple steps. It’s sure to bring you great results and keep your glassware functioning in your kitchen for years to come!
Make the dirty clean again!
I’ve collected all of my glass cookware secondhand, either from stores or online. And sometimes it comes quite used and dirty from years of previous use. That’s why I’ve mastered the easy way to restore your glass cookware, out of necessity for my glass cookware buying addiction!
I adore glass cookware in all shapes and forms. It’s so beautiful and I feel like it gives a home such a timeless look. A kitchen filled with glass bowls and bread pans, pie plates and large measuring cups.. it just speaks to me.
Below I’ll walk you through the easy steps to clean and restore dirty glass cookware!
Step one
Fill your sink with the hottest water possible. I heat my water on the stove until it’s just about to boil, then I pour it into the sink.
Add a generous amount of dish soap to your water (wayyy more than you’d use to wash a sink full of dishes), and a cup of baking soda.
Step two
Put your dirty glass cookware into the sink, making sure the entire piece(s) is completely submerged.
Let them soak for several hours. I like to leave mine in the water overnight, that way I don’t get impatient and move on to step three prematurely!
Step three
Empty your sink and refill it with dishwashing temp water. The hottest you’re able to work with comfortably, completely submerging the dishes once again.
In a bowl or cup mix together equal parts dish soap and baking soda. Use an abrasive sponge, but avoid steel wool!
Then get to work scrubbing your glass, using the mixture and avoiding diluting it with too much water. You want your mixture to really work into the dirtiest parts of your glass!
*I have to admit that I do use steel wool with some of the hardest to clean spots, but I can’t recommend that you do the same. Steel wool can compromise your pan and should be avoided at all costs*
Step four
This is my “secret ingredient” so to speak.
To really get those stains and marks off of your glass, use a magic eraser!
Contrary to popular belief, magic erasers are not toxic, and are the powerhouse of my cleaning equipment. I keep one beside my sink at all times! They also will not harm your glass.
Thats it!
Your glass should be sparkling clean. If there are still dirty marks just repeat the process again.
