The Self Sufficient Life You Desire

Homestead Inspired Gift Ideas

I wanted to create a list of easy gift ideas that are homestead inspired AND affordable.

Half of the list is homemade gift ideas, and the other half are from Amazon (these are not my affiliate links, just normal links). This way you can choose to either make a gift from scratch or just grab it online and save time!

Do you have any more creative or cool ideas for Christmas gifts? Let the group know in our Telegram chat!

Homemade Gift Ideas:

1: Homemade Ghee

Ghee is butter that has been simmered long enough for the milk solids and water to be removed, leaving just butter fat. It’s basically lactose- and casein-free. Ghee has a long history in traditional cultures with its rich, nutty taste and long shelf life.

While ghee can be expensive when purchased from the store, it’s nearly as cheap as butter when you make it at home! And if you have a dairy cow and have the butter anyway, it’s free. Ghee is a great option to give someone as a Christmas gift, just decorate the jar and add a cute tag, then your done!

This room spray would make an amazing gift! The ingredients are simple, and the product is superior to any other “natural” room sprays I’ve found in stores. It’s all I use now for my home.

You can make this spray in a bulk batch and gift to several people (including yourself 😉

A Lovely Place Called Home
A Lovely Place Called Home

This podcast is a practical tool for your homesteading toolbelt. Each episode walks through the real numbers, systems, and decisions behind building a working homestead — not the aesthetic version, the functional one. We break down cost analyses, infrastructure planning, off-grid setups, livestock math, garden yields, land considerations, and whether an idea actually makes financial and logistical sense for your life.

If you’ve ever wondered “Could we really do this?” — this is where we run the numbers and find out. No hype. No fantasy. Just clear thinking, grounded strategy, and honest evaluation so you can build something stable, sustainable, and strong for your family.

We Sold Everything To Move North And Farm Off Grid… AGAIN Ep.13
byMicheon Hutchings

For years, we believed we had found the farm we would stay on forever.

We built our off-grid home, raised our family, and poured our hearts into creating a life that felt deeply rooted. Leaving was never part of the plan.

But life has a way of surprising us. Or should I say, God LOL

In this episode, I’m sharing the full story behind our decision to sell our farm, move north to Manitoulin Island, and start over on a completely new property. I’ll talk about the challenges, the uncertainty, the excitement, and the lessons we’ve learned through one of the biggest transitions our family has ever faced.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re making the right decision, struggled to let go of a dream, or found yourself standing at the beginning of a new chapter, I hope this conversation encourages you!

Thank you for listening to A Lovely Place Called Home Podcast. If you enjoyed today’s episode, be sure to subscribe and leave a review—it helps more people find the show.
